Learn CPR on Halloween Day (twice)
We’re not trying to confuse anyone, but we’re having two big events the same day, both in Newnan, and both on Halloween Day.
First, at UWG-Newnan, we’re having a Halloween CPR (BLS) certification
class, which costs $40 for folks that wear a Halloween costume. Treats for all, prize for best costume, and only $40 for those wearing a (non-healthcare) costume/outfit.
It’s an official AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers course (yes, the course that nurses, dental hygienists, EMTs, and medical/dental/nursing students must take). BLS cards issued same day. If you need certification CPR, come join us at 9:00 am.
Course taught by Michael Jackson and Beyoncé (sure, they are legitimate AHA BLS instructors).
Class Details: Fri. Oct. 31 – 9:00 am – 12:20 pm for official AHA BLS class ($40).
Free, Hands-Only CPR on Halloween Day
OK, now to the FREE part. After Halloween CPR class is over, our instructors (Elvis and Britney Spears) will head to downtown Newnan and teach folks on the Square “Hands-Only CPR” for free, after 1:30 pm. It only takes 6 minutes, but might provide you the knowledge to save a loved ones’ life. Flyer.
Each day in the U.S., about 1,000 people suffer cardiac arrest, which is a stoppage of blood circulation, and 90% of them die, usually because no one performs CPR on them within 6 minutes of their cardiac arrest. Over 80% of cardiac arrests happen at home, so please lose the thought of mouth-mouth on an Ebola patient and think about chest compressions on your uncle, Dad, or brother.
It’s called Hands-Only CPR, and it is the recommended treatment for the witnessed collapse of teens or adults from apparent cardiac arrest (no indications of drowning, choking, drug overdose or asphyxiation).
Hands-Only CPR is a skill you can learn in 6 minutes, for free – OK, now what’s your excuse? Obviously, the term “Hands-Only CPR” means no more mouth on mouth. Therefore, no excuses, you can even do this on Uncle Si, or your Father-in-law)!
Free Hands-Only CPR details: Fri. Oct. 31, on the Square downtown Newnan, 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. (non-certification CPR training). Flyer.
The Hands-Only CPR training we provide is free – but don’t think it is not valuable. More people in this country die from heart disease than from respiratory diseases, stroke, Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, pneumonia, nephritis, Ebola, and influenza, combined.
It’s highly likely you’ll either discuss saving _______ using CPR, or lamenting in a funeral home that _____ died of cardiac arrest and you couldn’t help them. Your family and friends would appreciate your taking 6 minutes to learn this life-saving skill. Oh, yes, we’ll have treats, too. Here’s the full information for Free Sidewalk CPR afternoon of Oct. 31, 2014.
Hands-Only CPR is a free service to the community by Newnan CPR, your south of Atlanta provider of emergency responder training. This is non-certification training, so if your supervisor or manager wants you to bring them an AHA certification card, you’ll have to take a full course from us (or another provider)
