Stop the Bleed

Stop the Bleed Training, by Newnan CPR & AED   Logo Stop the Bleed

Be the hero in an emergency: Learn to stop life-threatening bleeding.  Uncontrolled bleeding causes 40% of trauma deaths worldwide – often within minutes, before help arrives.  With simple techniques, you can save a life.

What is Stop the Bleed?

Stop the Bleed is a national campaign from the U.S. Department of Defense to empower bystanders to be “immediate responders.”   It teaches three easy steps:

3 steps to Stop the Bleed

Two main programs:

  • Stop the Bleed Coalition:  Nonprofit supporting DoD-approved courses nationwide.  Provides free resources, kits, and the Stop the Bleed Save a Life “Essentials of Stop the Bleed” course, approx. one hour.
  • ACS Stop the Bleed (American College of Surgeons): Original DoD partner, largest trainer (5M+ people trained).  ACS Stop the Bleed logo     Hands-on  course with certified instructors, also course length approx. one hour.

Why Learn Now?

  • Preventable deaths: Bleeding kills faster than most injuries  –  you need to act before EMS arrives (avg. 7-8 min).
  • Anyone, anywhere: Vehicle accidents, shootings, disasters, machinery accidents  –  no medical background needed.
  • Proven: Battlefield techniques from Iraq/Afghanistan, now global (140+ countries).   Converted for civilian use.
  • Save Lives: Preparedness to act is the key to responding in a bleeding emergency.  Trauma might happen to your family, a co-worker, or a friend.  The skills learned in this course might save a loved one’s life!
