AHA Heartsaver

AHA Heartsaver (or Lay Responder) Courses

The AHA Heartsaver (HS) selection of courses from American Heart Association cover of variety of safety topics. HS CPR/AED is the most popular, and covers CPR practice and use of AED for adults, and can cover children and infants. HS First Aid can be a standalone 1st Aid course, or added to HS CPR/AED,   HS Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED covers children and infant 1st Aid, CPR and AED.  All of those are 2-year certification Same-Day AHA certificationcourses (except AHA Bloodborne Pathogens, which is 1-year certification course, an OSHA regulation).

AHA Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) is usually required yearly for persons that expect to be exposed to blood, including nurses, tattoo artists, and first responders.  As required by OSHA regulation, all BBP courses (by any training provider) are 1-year certification courses (that’s an OSHA requirement).

AHA Heartsaver CPR is designed for lay responders, not medical professionals. If you are a nursing/dental/medical student or employed in the healthcare field – you need the AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers course.

A. We will provide a current AHA Heartsaver course book (a “Loaner” book) for your use during your Heartsaver class.  If you want to buy a book, it’s $17 for CPR, $19 for First Aid/CPR.  Anyone can buy a Heartsaver book ahead of class ($13.95 plus shipping)  from Laerdal, Channing-Bete, or WorldPoint, the 3 authorized distributors of AHA course materials.  You can also purchase an “AHA eBook” from American Heart Association ($13.95 for Heartsaver).   Obtain an ebook from https://ebooks.heart.org/ .

Q. Is the course fee firm?

A. Course fees are determined by the AHA authorized provider and instructor, but have to cover equipment, cost of the facility, instructor time, and CPR supplies.  If you have a conference room and training room and at least 6 people to take a class, we can certainly teach for $5-10 less per student.
