AHA Heartsaver (or Lay Responder) Courses

The AHA Heartsaver (HS) selection of courses from American Heart Association cover of variety of safety topics. HS CPR/AED is the most popular, and covers CPR practice and use of AED for adults, and can cover children and infants. HS First Aid can be a standalone 1st Aid course, or added to HS CPR/AED, HS Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED covers children and infant 1st Aid, CPR and AED. All of those are 2-year certification courses (except AHA Bloodborne Pathogens, which is 1-year certification course, an OSHA regulation). Schedule link.
AHA Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) is usually required yearly for persons that expect to be exposed to blood, including nurses, tattoo artists, and first responders. As required by OSHA regulation, all BBP courses (by any training provider) are 1-year certification courses (that’s an OSHA requirement).
AHA Heartsaver CPR is designed for lay responders, not medical professionals. If you are a nursing/dental/medical student or employed in the healthcare field – you need the AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers course.
