AHA Extending Provider Card expirations by 120 days (expiring March-June 2020)

Newnan CPR is still teaching BLS for Healthcare courses, and conducting HeartCode BLS skills sessions!  From DHS list of “essential businesses” is “Training health care professionals, certification & licensing”.   New and returning healthcare clinicians are required to have certification cards – so we will schedule BLS courses as we are able.

On Apr. 1, AHA announced they will extend AHA Instructor and Provider Course certification cards for 120 days beyond their recommended renewal date.  This starts with cards that would have expired 3/31/2020, and will continue thru 6/30/2020.

Please read AHA’s guidance here:  https://t.co/ouB2RvFNau   .

The certification card extension applies to BLS, ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and Heartsaver cards (all AHA certifications), for certification cards with recommended renewal dates between 3/31/2020 and 6/30/2020.

Newnan CPR has discontinued teaching lay responder courses through Apr. 30.   (also, we expect ARC, ASHI, NSC to follow suit with extension of their certification cards, but no word yet).

(We are following AHA and CDC guidelines for cleaning manikins, pocket masks, and surfaces, 6′ space between participants, and using gloves while performing CPR and using a bag valve mask).
